What do RTP and payout percentage mean?
RTP and payout percentage are very similar numbers, both indicating the average expected return you can get on your wagers. However, they are not totally interchangeable.
RTP stands for Return To Player, and is most often used to portray the average payouts of a given game. For example, NetEnt’s famous Blood Suckers slot has an RTP of 98.00%, which means in theory, a player would get ₱98 back on average for every ₱100 they wager.
Payout percentage is a similar statistic, but there are differences. First, RTP usually refers to the average payouts of a given game, whereas payout percentage is most often used to indicate a casino’s overall payout rate.
Second, casinos happily give out the official RTPs of their games, but payout percentage is usually kept quiet — it’s an indicator of business performance, and most businesses generally prefer to keep that kind of data private. However, you can calculate an average win rate by putting together the RTPs of all their games.
